IPS School Self-Evaluation Process and Your Valued Input

We are writing to inform you about an important initiative that our school is currently undertaking. As part of our commitment to providing quality education, we are undergoing the Self-evaluation process in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education (MOE).

Announcement Details:

  • School Evaluation Process.
  • Who: All IPS Parents, students, and staff
  • How: By gathering comprehensive feedback. Staff, parents, and students may receive surveys or interviews by the ETEC platform that requests that require completion.
  • Importance of Feedback: Your feedback is invaluable to us and plays a crucial role in recognizing our school's efforts to create a conducive learning community.

About Kangaroo Mawhiba for Math Competition

The Kangaroo Mawhiba Competition is one of the biggest competitions in more than 70 countries around the world attended by about 6 million students. In the early 80's, Peter O'Halloran a math teacher in Sydney, invented a new kind of game in Australian schools. Then, in 1991, two French teachers decided to start the competition in France under the name "Kangaroo". In the first edition, 120,000 juniors took part. Ever since the competition has been opened to students as well as to senior students, followed by 21 European countries forming altogether "Kangaroo without borders". ​

In 1995, the organization was officially registered in Paris, a board was elected with legal Statute. The number of countries joining the contest increased including countries from Asia, Africa, and South America. About 6 million students are now participating in the competition globally.  The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness & Creativity “Mawhiba”, applied to join the organization officially in 2016 and the Kingdom's accession to the "Kangaroo Math Contest” organization was unanimously approved in the last meeting held in Ukraine in October 2016.

Objectives:

  • Encouraging students to master knowledge in mathematics.
  • Developing mathematical skills and the ability to solve mathematical questions.
  • Applying mathematical concepts and relating them to their daily lives.
  • Providing a stimulating and enjoyable learning environment for teaching mathematics.
  • Enhancing the importance of learning mathematics for general education students.

For Registration:

  • The first step for registration is to create a  Mawhiba account - Link.
  • Registration Link. Registration will open on Tuesday, 16 Jan, 2024
  • The competition is open to Saudi and non-Saudi students.
  • The competition targets all general education grades: primary, intermediate, and secondary.
  • The registration fee is 40 SR (paid through the SADAD account).

Competition Date:

The competition is held in mid-March of each year and a standardized test day is set for all registered students

The Competition

The competition questions are appropriate for the students's age, interesting, and challenging. Questions are chosen by the International Math Kangaroo Committee and they are based on a multi-choice question.

The students are divided according to their classes as shown below:
