13Sept2017 IPS Community Note

Dear IPS Students, Families, and Community,

We are eager to see ALL of you coming through the doors on Sunday, September 17!  This has been a long summer holiday and we look forward to your energy and enthusiasm as we start this exciting school year at IPS.  Our earlier note (linked here: 2017-18 First Community Note) has a lot of important information, please read this FIRST and as we’ll try not to repeat unnecessarily.  From this we really need your help completing 2017-18 IPS Student Dismissal Information Form - please complete now.

You are also invited to explore our webpage (www.ipsksa.com) for information we hope you find useful.

This year we are starting classes with a focus on Saudi Arabia (Vision 2030, language, culture, history, geography, etc.) leading up to a celebration for Saudi National Day in our 2nd week of school.  We’d like to enlist the help of our Saudi Families.  If YOU would like to help us celebrate, please take a moment to complete this form (Family Volunteers for Saudi Celebration) and we’ll organize a time to plan.

We take great pride in ensuring the health and safety of all members of our community and pay special attention to this in/around the parking lot.  While our system may move a little slower (thank you for your patience) it IS safe!  Thank you very much for helping ALL drivers to know and follow our procedures (linked here: IPS Arrival & Dismissal Traffic Guide).  Traffic in the first few days of school is generally heavier and slower - thank you for your patience, smiles, good humor, and willingness to follow directions.

Most essential information for Students and Families can be found in our Family Handbook (linked here and on our webpage) - two matters of immediate importance are:

  • We are a NUT FREE school to protect members of our community with severe nut allergies.  Thank you for keeping this in mind when preparing snacks and lunches.  All food at school should demonstrate healthy choices!

  • Dismissal on

    • Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday is at 2:45;

    • Tuesday is at 1:25.

KG1 & KG2 Students & Families ONLY are cordially invited to come to school on Thursday, Sept 14 from 12:00 - 1:30.  We hope to allow the ‘little ones’ some time without crowds to find their classrooms and teachers and learn about the campus.

G1-G12 NEW Students & Families ONLY are cordially invited to come to school on Thursday, Sept 14 from 2:00 - 3:30.  We hope to allow the new members of our community to find classrooms and teachers.

For all returning families, we look forward to welcoming you on Sunday!  Class lists and maps will be all over the school and we’ll certainly help you find your way…..these lists and room assignments are literally shifting/moving as I write.  This information will be available in final form on the first day of school.

We will host an ALL School Open House on Thursday, October 5 from 3:30-4:30.  This will be a “meet and greet” event with students sharing their learning and introducing teachers and friends.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Sincerely,

Jim Leahy and the IPS Administration
