Support children with their learning activities in the classroom and help children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom.
Actively promote and model the Mission, Beliefs and Graduate Profile of IPS
Plan, with the class teacher, for substantial contact time with students in groups or with individuals, to assist student learning;
Attend and contribute to teachers’ weekly planning meetings;
Record daily activities to provide accountability;
Take up PD opportunities when applicable and attend meetings when required;
Work cooperatively with other professionals;
Communicate and share ideas, opinions and experiences with colleagues;
On a rota basis call and attend LA meetings at least twice a term, take minutes and send them to administration;
Prepare to substitute for the class teacher on a short term basis. (Taking responsibility for the class for one day or more will be remunerated ; a LA will be assigned to assist)
Plan non-contact time to assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher;
Maintain confidentiality about children their families and other employees;
Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to the school;
Be responsible for assisting in the welfare health and safety of all the children and treat them with dignity and respect;
Supervise outside playground activities, arrival and dismissal procedures, according to the school wide rota;
Be in the classroom, work areas or duty stations during IPS working hours
Act as a role model for healthy eating
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Bachelor degree (minimum) and certification (desired) in related field.
Knowledge and experience with curriculum planning, teaching and class management.
Clear and concise writing ability.
Good communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills to work with faculty and administration.
Independent working habits
Strong organizational skills.
A positive, cooperative attitude.
