The Kangaroo Mawhiba Competition is one of the biggest competitions in more than 70 countries around the world attended by about 6 million students. In the early 80's, Peter O'Halloran a math teacher in Sydney, invented a new kind of game in Australian schools. Then, in 1991, two French teachers decided to start the competition in France under the name "Kangaroo". In the first edition, 120,000 juniors took part. Ever since the competition has been opened to students as well as to senior students, followed by 21 European countries forming altogether "Kangaroo without borders".
In 1995, the organization was officially registered in Paris, a board was elected with legal Statute. The number of countries joining the contest increased including countries from Asia, Africa, and South America. About 6 million students are now participating in the competition globally. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness & Creativity “Mawhiba”, applied to join the organization officially in 2016 and the Kingdom's accession to the "Kangaroo Math Contest” organization was unanimously approved in the last meeting held in Ukraine in October 2016.

The Competition
The competition questions are appropriate for the students's age, interesting, and challenging. Questions are chosen by the International Math Kangaroo Committee and they are based on a multi-choice question.
