Grade 6-10

Students in grades 6  through 10 continue with the IPS core curriculum of English, Arabic, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics, and Health and Physical Education. KSA Social Studies, as well as Islamic Studies or Culture, are taught as per Ministry requirements.  Students in grades 7 and 8 take semester-long exploratory subjects on Robotics and Art; in addition, they can choose between Approaches to Learning 7/8 or French as year-long courses.  Students in grades 9 and 10 take Approaches to Learning 9/10 and can choose between Art, Business Management, or French.

The curriculum emphasizes the IB learner profile attributes: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-Takers, Balanced, and Reflective.

An IPS graduate must meet the following requirements:

  • For 2018 graduates: 4 credits (1 credit per HS year)
  • For 2019+ graduates: 2 credits (1 credit in grades 9 and 10 each)
Health & Physical Education
  • For 2018 graduates: 1 credit (0.25 credit per HS year)
  • For 2019+ graduates: ½ credit (0.25 credit in grades 9 and 10)
Saudi History/Geography 1 0.25 credit per HS year
Islamic Studies / Culture
  • Islamic Studies is required of Muslim students
  • Islamic Culture is required of non-Muslim students
2 0.5 credit per HS year

Starting with the 2019 graduating class:

  1. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) - 1 credits (0.5 credit in grades 11 and 12)

  2. Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS):  150 hours total in grades 11 and 12; individually modified program for non-Diploma students as decided by the IB Coordinator and Administration.

  3. Extended Essay:  2500 - 4000 words essay in grades 11 and 12; individually modified program for non-Diploma students as decided by the IB Coordinator and Administration.
